I've
met Ben Harper on a few occations.
The one time I asked him for his autograph
I was out infront of the Avalon in
Boston (3/11/98) about two hours before
show time. It was about 10 degrees
out and I was there early because
I didn't have a ticket and I knew
it was going to be a hard ticket.
I had made prints of two pictures
I had taken out at Reggae on the River
in '96 in hopes they would add to
my chances of scoring a ticket. A
few other ticketless fans were with
me listening intently to the sound
check that came muffled through the
stage door. The sounds stopped and
the doors opened and out walks Ben
wearing just a t shirt, jeans and
sneakers. He came out for no apparent
reason and started talking with us.
He hung with us for about 15 minutes
in that cold ass night. He really
dug the photo's I had and signed them
both. The signatures reflect his shaking
hand. He wished us luck on getting
tickets and mentioned that if we didn't
get in, the show was being broadcast
live on BCN. I called a friend to
tape the show and just before show
time I managed to scored a ticket
for face value! I didn't even have
to part with my autographed photos! |
